What happened to the old Town Clock? It was in place as early as 1702. I think Max Elser had removed it from its place with the idea of restoring it after it was damaged in a fire.
The town erected a town clock in 1702 on the belfry of the church, but there have been several First Churches since then. The previous First Church burned in 1965.The Town Clock that was on that building was removed from the charred steeple tower before it was pulled down.
