Thank you, Ipswich Visitor Center volunteers

The Ipswich Visitor Center at the Hall Haskell House on South Main Street was open seven days a week from Memorial Day Weekend through Indigenous Peoples Day (aka Columbus Day) during the summer of 2023, and a total of 2982 visitors from all over the world stopped in for information. The Visitor Center is administrated by Kerrie Bates through Ipswich ReCreation. This year, Gordon Harris became the volunteer coordinator and set up an online calendar, plus email, and text communication for our wonderful volunteer network. Funding for the Visitor Center is provided by the Town of Ipswich, Essex National Heritage, and grants.

The Ipswich Visitor Center is staffed by a wonderful crew of twenty-one knowledgeable volunteers, each filling a two-hour shift once a week. Many thanks to Carrie Adams, Catherine Armstrong, Sheila Bodwell, Louise Cynkus, Susan Demarle, Ruth Edmonds, Nancy Fuller, Judy Gardner, Donna Hughes, Sandi Jackson, Beth Jerrett, Anna Kjoss, Prudy Markos, Bernie Nikitas, Connie Price, Jane Rathe, Alicia Rice, Susan Russell, Kristen Seashore, Millie Taffee, and Diane Tedford for providing this wonderful service to the community and our visitors. Almost all have let us know that they will be back for 2024.

Being a Visitor Center volunteer is a rewarding experience, and most of our volunteers have served for many years. We have two openings for next summer, and to sign up, please email Gordon Harris at historicipswich@gmail.com
