
On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 6:00 PM, the Ipswich Public Library will host author David J. Kent on his new book, Lincoln in New England: In Search of His Forgotten Tours.
David J. Kent, an Ipswich native, is an award-winning Abraham Lincoln scholar, past President of the Lincoln Group of DC, and is a board member of the Abraham Lincoln Institute and Board of Advisors for the Lincoln Forum. He served as Master of Ceremonies for the Lincoln Memorial Centennial program in 2022.
Kent’s previous books include The Fire of Genius, and Lincoln: The Man Who Saved America. In Lincoln in New England, he revisits important towns where Lincoln spoke and explores crucial issues that predicated the Civil War, the birth of the Republican Party as an anti-slavery faction, and New England’s vital influence during the buildup to the Civil War. Books will be available on site for cash purchase and signing.
