Early in his artistic career, William Gordon Keyworth (1927 – 2017) lived in Ipswich and worked as an art teacher at Shore Country Day School in Beverly. During his years in Ipswich, he painted a series of sketches and watercolors of historic buildings and scenes. Their first home in Ipswich was on Meeting House Green, which Keyworth and his wife Barbara owned from 1959 to 1965 (4596:348), and afterward on Argilla Road. After they moved to New Hampshire, Keyworth became known for his pen-and-ink drawings of covered bridges of Vermont and New Hampshire.
