44 North Main Street, the Harry K. Dodge & Josephine Hurd House (1886)

Harry K. Dodge, a native of Ipswich, bought the 44 North Main Street homestead of the widow Margaret S. Kendall in 1886. He tore down the old house and erected this Victorian home. His wife was Josephine Hurd of Amesbury.

Samuel Sawyer sold this lot to Capt. Ephraim Kendall, Nov. 26, 1771 (129: 215). The house Kendall built continued in the Kendall family until Mr. Harry K. Dodge bought the homestead of the widow Margaret S. Kendall from her heirs on March 27, 1886. Dodge tore down the old house and erected the present dwelling at 44 N. Main St. (Ipswich in the Massachusetts Bay Colony Vol. 1)

  1. Today, I found a book, ‘Morals and Dogma’ autographed by a Harry K. Dodge on September 25, 1920.
