The heirs of Jonathan and William Galloway sold the lot at today’s 53 High Street with a house on it to Andrew Russell, a cabinetmaker, on April 20, 1847 (399: 54). The old Galloway house was in a ruinous condition, and Russell, who lived across the street, tore down the house and constructed a shop for cabinet making. On July 17, 1867, Andrew Russell sold the property to Francis and Lisette Ross (744: 254), who remodeled and apparently expanded the cabinet shop into a dwelling. The 1872 and 1884 maps show the house owned by Mr. Timothy B. Ross. The house is shown in the 1893 Ipswich Birdseye Map with the front section attached to it.
