Short Street is a small one-way street connecting Central Street and High Street at Lords Square. It crosses behind the service station, which now sits approximately at the former site of Asa Lord’s store. There is only one building on Short Street, and it has never been torn down or replaced. In the first half of the 20th century, it was the home of Marcorelle Brothers. Before that, it is said to have been Asa Lord’s barn. Today, it is a fine-looking building that houses three businesses.
Across Lords Square from this building are the Payne School and the Old Fire House.
